PRAYER FOR PEACE IN THE WORLD

Dear Friends in Christ,
1) SPECIAL PRAYER FOR PEACE IN THE WORLD
Following the recent tragic events in the world and particularly in Ukraine and many parts of Africa, the Holy Father, Pope Francis has called for a special day of PRAYER FOR PEACE on MARCH 25, 2022, the feast of the ANNUNCIATION. The Holy Father invites all Dioceses, and Parishes to join in prayer at about the same time corresponding to 5.00pm, the time he will be leading the same prayer in Rome. In our own case, this falls to the same 5.00pm.
I have therefore been directed by his lordship, Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina to Invite all Priests, Religious and Lay faithful of our Diocese to actively join in this prayer with the following details:
Date: Friday March 25, 2022 (Feast of the Annunciation)
Venue: Each Parish Church
Time: 4.30pm – Praying the rosary for world peace.
(It may be processional or in-church recitation as may be found pastorally convenient)
5.00pm – Stations of the Cross
5.45pm – Holy Mass
NOTES
1) The Bishop Most Rev. Francis Adesina will be leading this same prayer in the Cathedral following the above schedule.
2) All Deans are to arrange for possible exchange of pulpit to cover all parishes in each deanery for this activity. The exchange of pulpit should be limited to the deanery.
3) Elaborate announcements should be made on Sunday March 20,2022 to encourage good attendance and active participation of the faithful.
2) DIOCESAN PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING
This is to remind all members of the Diocesan Pastoral Council of the next statutory meeting of the Council Scheduled as follows:
Date: Saturday March 26, 2022
Time: 10.00am (Starting with Mass)
Venue: St. Sebastian Cathedral
Punctuality is highly encouraged.
3) REMINDER ON DEANERY CATHEDRATICUM MASSES
Our Cathedraticum Masses this Year will only be in three phases namely:
- Iloti, Ijebu-Igbo and Ijebu-Ode Deaneries Combined:
Date: Friday April 1st, 2022
Venue: St. Anthony Catholic Church, Ejinrin Rd., Ijebu-Ode
Time: 10.00am
- Sagamu and Iperu Deaneries Combined:
Date: Saturday April 2nd, 2022
Venue: Holy Family Catholic Church, G.R.A., Sagamu
Time: 10.00am
- Ogbere and Esure Deaneries combined:
Date: Saturday April 9th, 2022
Venue: St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ikija
Time: 10.00am
4) CHRISM MASS 2022:
The Chrism Mass for this year will hold as follows:
Date: Tuesday of Holy Week April 12th, 2022
Venue: St. Sebastian Cathedral, Ijebu-Ode
Time: 10.00am
