PARISHIONERS OF LIKOSI VISITS BISHOP ADESINA

The Parishioners of Saint Francis Catholic Parish, Likosi, on Saturday, 8th June, 2019 paid a courtesy visit to Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina, the Catholic Bishop of Ijebu-Ode Diocese. They were accompanied by their Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Patrick Ajewole to his residence at Idomila.
The interaction which started at about 10:30am with an opening prayer led by Fr. Michael Omojola, a friend of the Bishop, who happened to be on his way out at the time of their arrival. About 38 parishioners of Likosi were present and all the outstations and even the parish center were duly represented.


In his opening address, the Parish Priest, Fr. Patrick Ajewole thanked the Bishop for the opportunity given to them to have such Interaction. The Parish President of Catholic Men Organisation (CMO), Mr. Anthony Somade gave the address on behalf of the Parishioners. In his address, he gave a brief history of the Parish and it’s development since 2015 it was created. He noted that the Parish Priest is very hardworking and has done a lot for the growth of the parish.

However, he said that there are still some challenges facing them as a parish, that he would like the Bishop to consider. Among the many challenges is the fact that they need an Assistant Parish Priest to support the current priest. He also call on the Bishop to support them financially as regards building befitting churches in the outstations.
There was opportunity for others to talk also as representatives from CWO, Laity and CYON all spoke on various issues disturbing them.


The Bishop, in his response noted firstly that Likosi Parish is the first parish to visit him since taking over the Diocese as Chief Shepherd. He also addressed every issue that was raised and promised to give attention to the ones that needs urgent attention also. He encouraged everyone to learn how to give and not just to receive alone. With regards the youth apostolate in the Diocese, he promised that there shall be a new revival in that regard. Above all the Bishop thanked them for coming and he blessed them while they all departed in peace.
