MSGR. AYANKOYA : A HERO OF OUR TIME… BISHOP FRANCIS ADESINA

The whole of the Sagamu area of Ogun State felt the celebration of the 75th birthday of a rare hero of Catholicism in Ijebu-Ode Diocese. Many priests, religious and laity, though keeping social distancing were in attendance in the Church for the Holy Mass. The 30th of August is a special day to celebrate the birthday of Msgr. Gabriel K. Ayankoya.

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu- Ode, Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina in his remark labelled Msgr. Ayankoya as a hero of our time. The Bishop noted that he has heard of him far long before he became the Bishop of Ijebu-Ode Diocese. According to the Bishop, God used him so much that it’s now visible even in his weakness of body showing him the suffering of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Bishop continued by saying ” When you read the Bible, there are always two missionaries working together”. “For example, without Aaron, Moses wasn’t complete. Baba Fasina was our Moses for 29 years while Baba Ayankoya was the silent Aaron.

The Bishop praised the priests, pastoral council and the entire parishioners of St Anthony Catholic Church, Ayegbami, Sagamu for a befitting birthday organization for Baba Ayankoya.
