MESSAGE TO OUR ISLAMIC BROTHERS AND SISTERS FOR RAMADAN FROM MOST REV. FRANCIS OBAFEMI ADESINA, THE CATHOLIC BISHOP OF IJEBU-ODE DIOCESE

Dear Muslim Brothers and Sisters,

In his providence, God the Almighty has granted you the opportunity to observe anew the fasting of Ramadan and to celebrate id al-Fitr. Although, it is happening in an unusual way this year due to the COVID- 19 pandemic as the whole world is struggling to battle with this virus that has made several nations including Nigeria to mandate her citizens to stay at home.

Nevertheless, we as a Catholic family in Ijebu-Ode Diocese and indeed, the Catholic Church all over the world appreciates the importance of this month and the great effort by Muslims everywhere to fast, pray and share the Almighty’s gifts with the poor. As you observe this Holy Month of Ramadan in fasting, prayer and almsgiving, we extend our best wishes and join you in thanking the Merciful God for his benevolence and generosity.

The City of Ijebu-Ode and indeed Ogun State have always experienced a cordial and friendly relationship between Christians and Muslims. This would not have been possible if not for the mutual respect we have for each other. This mutual respect between Muslims and Christians enables us to offer credible witness to the Merciful God who loves the whole world.

As you fast and pray during this Holy season, we join you in prayers for healing and deliverance from COVID-19 pandemic in the world. Once again, we wish you a fruitful fast and a joyful Ramadan.
