INFERNO-AIDED MARTYRDOM OF SISTERS OF THE HANDMAID OF THE HOLY CHILD JESUS

It was a tears-filled Wednesday for the Sisters of the Handmaid of the Holy Child Jesus Congregation as two of their members in charge of Handmaid Girls’ Secondary School, Amansea, Anambra community, Sr. Virginia Obike (Principal) and Sr. Monica Ilem (Bursar) were involved in a car accident that led to a fire outburst where they were burnt together with their driver.

It was gathered by the Partner correspondent that the two sisters went to get items for their students in their school bus in the morning time of Tuesday 12th April 2022. But while they were returning in the evening along Onitsha Akwa road, they collided with a Siena car containing a couple which led to the fire incident. The report that was gathered shows that there was no Road Safety officers or other emergency Agency around until they were all burnt in the inferno. In fact, the bus and the car burnt till the morning of Wednesday 13th April 2022 before they were eventually discovered making a total number of 5 death casualties.

Since then, their remains had been gathered for identification and autopsy. Burial arrangement will later be announced by the Superior General, Mother Germaine Ocansy. Indeed they have paid the supreme sacrifice in active service during the Holy Week. May God rest their soul.
