Counting one’s years on earth would only be possible through the grace of God. This was affirmed on the 15th of June, 2019 at St Anthony Catholic Church, Ayegbami Olororo, Sagamu; when Sir Dr. Peter Oladipupo Adefuye celebrated his Diamond Jubilee. The mass which started around 10:30am was celebrated by Msgr. Victor Ajayi with the Emeritus Bishop, Most Rev Dr. Albert Fasina assisted by the parish priest, Rev Fr Albert Igbodipe and his assistant, Rev Fr Albert Osunlaja . Also at the mass were, Msgr. Valentine Awoyemi and Gabriel Ayankoya; Frs Vincent Ajayi, Emmanuel Matuluko, Lawrence Alabi, Christopher Ogunnupebi, Evaristus Oduntan, Michael Oguntade, Charles Soyege, Daniel Ogunsanya and Anthony Abdullahi.
Msgr. Awoyemi in his homily said that the essence of the great gathering at the Holy Mass was to thank God, the Author and Finisher of our lives and for the life of the celebrant. He said the book of Sirach shows us how grateful the people of Israel were even from the womb. In the second reading, the grace of God was expressed by St Paul to the Corinthians. He thanked God for his grace and testimony given to the people.
However, he said that each of us has two forces working within us – the forces of good and evil. The grace of God helps us in these forces. We should give up on the evil ways and embrace God’s goodness. The good force has a lot of qualities – integrity, care, wisdom and other good virtues.
He described the celebrant as a generous health care giver, devoted and generous to humanity. He admonished him to continue the good works he has been doing. He added that the grace of God has made him attain the great heights and achievements in life. He also described the wife as an indispensable attribute and a woman of substance. A woman of faith and diligent to her husband.
The mass had various royal fathers, chiefs, medical doctors, nurses and other members of the various organizations across the Diocese.
The Celebrant, Sir Dr. Peter Oladipupo Adefuye in appreciation, thanked everyone present at the celebration.
In gratitude to God, the Sunday School and the entrance to the church renovated by the celebrant were blessed by the Bishop Emeritus, Most Rev Dr. Albert Ayinde Fasina.
