DIOCESAN CHRISTMAS CAROL HELD IN ST. MICHAEL CATHOLIC CHURCH, ILISAN ON 1ST DECEMBER, 2019.
By Bright Isong
With gratitude to God who makes all things possible, Sunday 1st December will go into the memory lane as a significant day and a great privilege to host the year 2019 Diocesan Christmas Carol in St. Michael’s Parish, Ilisan-Remo.
The programme began with an opening prayer led by Rev. Fr. Hector Osifeko which was immediately followed by a welcome address delivered by Mr. Michael Salami, Diocesan Choir Coordinator. In his remarks, he welcomed all present to the event and thanked all those who worked hard to make the day a success.
It was indeed a glorious and a melodious event. Different presentations were put up by the Diocesan choir and other invited groups in order to entertain everyone. Some of the groups that performed include the St. Mary Cathedral, Oke-Padi choir from Ibadan, the NFCS OOU Ago-Iwoye, the Sagamu deanery choir and the CKCC students from Odolewu and a host of others. They all sang joyfully to the excitement and amezement of those present.
Rev. Fr. Vincent Ajayi who represented the Bishop, His Lordship, Most. Rev. Dr. Francis Obafemi Adesina in his Christmas message urged everyone to get prepared for the coming of Christ and be ready to celebrate as one big family in unity, love, peace and harmony. He lamented the Bishop’s unavoidable absent at the Carol since it was his first since he assumed office.
When the event was almost over, Miss Doyin Irekiigbe, the Chairperson of the organizing committe, gave the vote of thanks. She appreciated everyone especially the host Parish.
The closing prayer was led by Sr. Isara, EHJ while the blessing was given by Rev. Fr. Vincent Ajayi, the representative of the Bishop.
The programme ended with the Alleluia chorus performed by all the choristers present. As we await the coming of Christ at Christmas and His second coming, we pray that we all will continue to prepare ourselves so as to be ready when He comes, Amen
