By Fr. Anthony Adetayo

Together with the entire Catholic world, the Social Communication Commission of the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode celebrated the World Communication Day on 16th May 2021. As part of this celebration, there was composition of parish communication committees across the Diocese. Also there was an award ceremony of the best CAMPAN (Catholic Media professionals Association of Nigeria), Ijebu-Ode Diocesan Chapter) member of the year and the initiation of a Catholic Radio program titled Aguda On Radio; the way the truth and the life. The program will be held every Sunday evening.

The program which was aired live on super 96.3 FM was anchored by Miss N. Nonye and Mr Paul Ovoke. It began by 6:00p.m with the Regina Caeli prayer. The presenter for the maiden edition of Aguda On Radio was the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode, Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina.

In his presentation, the Bishop dissected the message of the Holy Father, Pope Francis titled “Come and See” as a working document even for all communicators, journalists and media experts. For him, people should no longer presume or assume but they should see for themselves what reality is, and report exactly what reality they have seen. During the program a caller asked the question about presenting truth and government harsh reaction to it. The Bishop in his response said truth must be presented with prudence and wisdom people should decline from presenting sentiments in the name of Truth. However truth should be appreciated and that is why Aguda On Radio as a program will present truth to the society; the truth about life and the truth about the word of God.
Other callers made their contributions while another person appreciated the Bishop through text messages. We thank God for the successful maiden edition of the program and the Diocese under the leadership of the Bishop, Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina. May God bless all our communicators through Christ our lord. Amen.
