The Catholic Bishop of Ijebu-Ode Diocese, Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina, has urged every member of his Diocese to have a change of attitude of being Catholics in the Diocese. He made this call during the visit of the Executives of the Catholic Women Organisation of Nigeria, Ijebu-ode Diocese (CWONIO) to the Bishop on 6th of June, 2019 at the Chancery office in JDPC compound.

About 13 executives of the CWONIO were present at this meeting with the Bishop. They were led by the President, Mrs. Marcellina Okuselu, the Chaplain, Fr. Andison Anyanwu and the Sister Adviser, Sr. Esther Oyetoro, CP.
In her opening address, the President thanked the Bishop of creating time out to meet them out of his busy schedule. She welcomed the Bishop officially to the Diocese and congratulated him on his ordination and installation. She intimate the Bishop about the plans of the women in the diocese and the various projects they have embarked upon. She also said that empowerment of the women is still very crucial in the plans of the current administration of the Diocesan CWON.

After her speech, the floor was open for other women present to have their say and make contributions as to what the Bishop needs to know about the Diocese and how he can help them also in their organisation. Part of the issues raised was that they asked for more support from their Parish Priests; Yoruba language should be used at mass and not brushed aside. Furthermore, they asked for the support of the Bishop in order to be able to complete their CWO event center.

The Bishop in his response to the women, thanked them for coming. He said that, women plays an important role in the Church and in the society. He noted that the CWO in Ijebu-ode Diocese are very active and committed. He encouraged them not to be downcast with challenges facing them but that they should have courage and believe that they will surely overcome it. He also admonished them to always give and not only to receive. Finally,he promised to support them and challenged those members and parishes that are not doing well.
The Secretary, Mrs Eniola thanked the Bishop on behalf of everyone. The Bishop prayed for them and blessed them as they depart.
