CAMPAN IJEBU-ODE TOOK A NEW COURSE

The Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (CAMPAN), Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode had her second Annual Seminar on Saturday 29th January, 2022 at St Anthony Grammar School (Private), Esure. The seminar had in attendance priests, members and prospective members of CAMPAN within the parishes across the Diocese.

The programme started with an opening prayer said by Miss Okebili Florence, followed by a welcome speech by Rev. Fr. Anthony Adetayo, the Director of Social Communications Commission, Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode.

The Guest Speaker, Prince Adewale Sokoya, a Media and Radio presenter spoke widely on the topic: “Broadcasting”. He was able to simplify the topic, stating the meaning, types and relevance of the topic to the present advancement of the world. After the talk, some of the participants asked questions which he answered appropriately.

The second talk was given by Miss Idowu Veronica. She spoke briefly on the topic: Advocacy Journalism in Ecclesia Light. On this, she was able to define the key words in the topic and also give the principles guiding a journalist advocate working for the church. She charged participants to be truthful, credible and accurate. Also, as a journalist working for the church, the vision and mission of the church must be preserved always.

Going further, the third talk was given by Rev Fr Anthony Adetayo on the topic: Self Image Branding and Marketing Strategy. Surely, he did justice to the topic as he broadly made use of relevant brands in the country and how to achieve great success in branding and marketing. Of course, this topic attracted a lot of questions from the participants and adequate answers were given by the speaker.

Afterwards, the participants had a break out where each group were given three topics to discuss and come out with valuable solutions. Indeed, the participants were up to the task. They successful had the discussion and a representative of each group related what they discussed with everyone present.

It was indeed to great time to take a new course as the Director of Social Communications Commission, Ijebu-Ode Diocese charged every group that formed the CAMPAN to strategize and work together in uplifting the Commission.

New appointments were made as Mr. Paul Awode is the new Market and Advert Manager, Mr. Stephen Eze is the new Production manager while Mrs. Sarah-Sam Aguihe is the new Writer’s / Journalism Directress.
