Ijebu-Ode Diocese Honours Msgr. Victor Ajayi on 75th Birthday and Retirement

The Diocese of Ijebu-Ode came together on Friday, October 17, 2025, to celebrate a milestone occasion, honoring Very Rev. Msgr. Victor Olufemi Ajayi on his 75th birthday and formal retirement from active ministry.

The celebration centered around a Thanksgiving Mass held at the Holy Family Catholic Church, GRA Sagamu, at 10:00 am, which saw the entire diocesan family, including the Bishop, clergy, and lay faithful, gathered to pay tribute to the retired Vicar General.

A Life of Service Commended

During the homily, Very Rev. Fr. Albert Igbodipe underscored Msgr. Ajayi’s impactful decades of ministry. Rev. Fr. Igbodipe stated that the celebrant had given the diocese “reasons to rejoice because God has achieved a lot through him,” and extended thanks for his deep care and commitment to the Church. He also took the moment to remind the congregation that prayer remains a required commitment for every Christian.

The celebrant, Msgr. Ajayi, was visibly moved by the turnout and support. He used his address to thank the attendees for showing their love and acknowledged his parish for organizing the “wonderful program” with the support of the wider Diocese.

He offered special appreciation to the Diocesan Bishop, Most Rev. Francis Adesina, for his “love and assistance,” and pledged his continuing spiritual support for the community. “I will continue to pray for you and for the progress of Ijebu-Ode Diocese,” Msgr. Ajayi promised.

In his closing remarks, Bishop Adesina expressed gratitude for Msgr. Ajayi’s career, simply stating that the retired Vicar General’s service was “well rendered.”
