SET OF 2005 CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF PRIESTLY DEDICATION

Eight dedicated priests of the Diocese of Ijebu-Ode marked their 20th priestly ordination anniversary yesterday, Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at St. Clare Monastery, Ikoto. The jubilant celebration, which commenced with a Holy Mass around 10:15 AM, brought together a multitude of priests, religious, and laity to honor the steadfast commitment of these clergymen who hold the record of the highest ordinands in the history of the Diocese.

The celebrants, Frs. Jude Ezeigbo, Onabamiro Peter, Joseph Ogunnupebi, Simon Mayungbe, Martin Ajayi, Uche Okocha, Titus Adelaja, and Jude Kuti, were lauded for their two decades of service to God and the Church.

In a heartfelt homily, Fr. Felix Akinyode commended the celebrants for their unwavering dedication, acknowledging that many have left the priesthood over the years. He encouraged them to take a moment for proper evaluation and self-assessment, emphasizing the importance of continued sacrifice with the assurance that God is their ultimate reward.

Very Rev. Fr. Michael Adebanjo, the Vicar for Priests, represented the Bishop of Ijebu-Ode; Most Rev. Francis Adesina and conveyed his message to the celebrants. The Bishop recognized the vital role each priest plays within the Diocese and challenged them to continue their selfless giving to the Church and the people of God.

Fr. Peter Onabamiro, speaking on behalf of the celebrants, expressed profound gratitude to the Bishop and all those who joined them in their celebration. In a tangible show of their continued commitment, the priests made a generous token donation of ₦500,000 towards the ongoing construction of the Cathedral and an additional ₦100,000 to St. Clare Monastery.

The anniversary celebration was a poignant reminder of faith, perseverance, and community within the Diocese of Ijebu-Ode, highlighting the profound impact these eight priests have had over two decades.
