“WHOEVER IS NOT WITH ME IS AGAINST ME, AND WHOEVER DOES NOT GATHER WITH ME SCATTERS” (MATTHEW 12:30)… BISHOP ADESINA TELLS ADMINISTRATORS AND ACCOUNTANTS.
By Fr. Anthony Adetayo
The body of Accountants working in the Catholic hospitals and schools in Ijebu-Ode Diocese gathered with their Principals and Chaplains for a 2-Day New Year seminar at Christ the King Catholic College, Odolewu, on 4th January 2023.
The Finance Administrator; Fr. Victor Adigboluja welcomes everyone to the seminar and gave a description of what to expect in the revelations contained in the various financial audit of the various institutions.
It began with the sharing of the word of God in which many of the staff and Priests also made contributions.
The Bishop of the Diocese; Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina, who doubles as the Proprietor of the institutions, took his time to emphasize the need to move from where we are to where Jesus wants us to be (with him).
The Bishop says the staff members must be missionary disciples. “We have a common ground as disciples. Firstly, a disciple goes out to meet the Lord for a greater good. Secondly, disciples want to know more and see more. Thirdly, they want to be with. They stay with him to be transformed by Him. Fourthly, they bring others to experience the goodness they also experienced. In all these, it implies that we cannot just maintain the status quo.“
The demographic data of the schools were displayed to everyone while the auditors also explained the importance of this audit process, namely; To make for a reliable financial information, to manage business financial risk, to uphold internal financial discipline and help in external assessing of accounting policy.
The Bishop emphasized that everyone should work with the best form of professional practices, leaving behind old and unprofitable system that weakens the institutions. He says “Whoever is not with Me is against Me, and whoever does not gather with Me scatters” quoting Matthew 12:30. The seminar ended around 3:00pm on the first day with a better disposition in the attendants to make the quicker possible growth in the system.
