Students of St. Anthony Grammar School Private, fondly known as SANTOS Private, owned by the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode, have once again demonstrated academic brilliance with exceptional performances in the recently concluded West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) organized by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

The examination, which commenced in April and ended in June 2025, saw 50 candidates from the prestigious Catholic institution participate. The results, released earlier this week, revealed a stellar display of academic excellence across several key subjects.

In the sciences, Physics and Chemistry recorded a record-breaking feat, with all students earning an A1 grade except one. Biology results were equally impressive, as every student who wrote the subject achieved a Distinction. All the students for Food and Nutrition also got a Distinction in their results.

Mathematics, often considered a challenging subject, saw 70% of the students easily attaining Distinctions, while Christian Religious Studies (CRS) recorded an astounding 95% Distinction rate.

This performance not only reflects the students’ hard work and discipline but also highlights the school’s commitment to academic excellence and spiritual formation. The success has been widely attributed to the holistic Catholic education ethos that St. Anthony Grammar School is known for.

In his congratulatory message, the school’s Principal, Rev. Fr. Anthony Adetayo, commended the students and staff for the outstanding achievement. “This is a proud moment for us as a school. Our students have raised the bar yet again. Their performance is a testament to the values and rigorous academic training we instill. We look forward to surpassing this success in future examinations,” he said.

With such remarkable results, St. Anthony Grammar School Private continues to stand tall as a beacon of excellence in Catholic education in Nigeria.
