IJEBU-ODE DIOCESE CELEBRATES CHRIST THE KING WITH PROCESSION

By Anthonia Sokoya

On Sunday 20th November 2022 is the Universal celebration of Christ the King. Catholic churches in Ijebu-Ode Diocese joined the universal Church in the celebration of Christ the King. At the Cathedral church, the Mass began at 8:00am and the chief celebrant was Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina; Catholic Bishop of Ijebu-Ode Diocese. The Bishop said this year’s Christ the King will be celebrated in a grand style as some parishes have been zoned into different meeting points for their procession.

According to the Bishop “we have many churches, many mosques, even traditional worshippers and the question is “Do we serve the living God?”. The Bishop reminds the people that they are kings by the virtue of their baptism in Christ. He therefore encourages them to be kingly like Jesus who loves and who shares.

Different parishes moved round Ijebu-Ode town and its environs to show the world that Christ is the king of the universe and stopped for adoration at specific points on the road to the final venues of their Benediction.
