Priests of the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode recently concluded their annual Lenten retreat, a week-long period of spiritual reflection and renewal. The retreat, held from March 23rd to March 28th, 2025, took place at the serene Louis Bautai Retreat Center in Ijebu Itele.

The Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina, actively participated in the retreat alongside all the diocesan priests and male religious. This annual gathering provides a vital opportunity for the clergy to step away from their pastoral duties and dedicate themselves to prayer and spiritual growth during the penitential season of Lent.

Throughout the week, the priests engaged in various spiritual exercises, including insightful reflections led by the retreat moderator. The daily rhythm of the retreat also encompassed the prayer of the Divine Office, the meditative Stations of the Cross, the sacrament of confession, and the celebration of Holy Mass. These practices aimed to deepen their relationship with God and strengthen their commitment to their vocation.

At the conclusion of the retreat, the moderator encouraged the priests to return to their respective parishes with a renewed sense of purpose and energy. The emphasis was on diligently attending to the pastoral needs of the faithful under their spiritual guidance. The retreat served as a time of rejuvenation, equipping the priests to continue their ministry with fresh vigour and dedication in serving the Catholic community of the Ijebu-Ode Diocese.
