The Aguda on Radio program at Lion FM Esure-Ijebu, had a guest on Sunday 8th of January, 2023 in the person of Rev. Fr. David-Mary Odunsi who came to speak on the topic, “Epiphany And Its Relevance”.

It is important to note that the Holy Mother Church celebrates the solemnity of the Epiphany every year. This year, the Diocese of Ijebu-Ode celebrated the feast in a grand style as a Priest was brought on air to explain the importance of Epiphany to the people.

The speaker explains the meaning of Epiphany as the revelation or manifestation of the Lord Jesus Christ. He further explains that the feast is similar to Christmas in the sense that Christ is being given birth to on Christmas day and he is revealed to the whole world on the day of Epiphany.

Unlike the seventh-day tradition of the naming ceremony, the revelation of the Lord happens fourteen days after Christmas which usually falls on January 6 or a Sunday closer to it.

In response to one of the presenter’s questions on how God is revealed to Man, the speaker explains that “God appears to Man according to his situation and disposition”. The way he appeared to the Shepherds was different from the way he appeared to the three wise men to inform them of the great thing that happened in Bethlehem.

“The Epiphany is an important feast that should not be joked with as its appearance brings forth significant things that help the Christian mind grow in faith and power”, the priest added.

Advising the Church, he stated that, “The relevance of the feast centres on the positive change in man’s life when he encounters Jesus”. Looking at the scenario of the three wise men after they had encountered the baby Jesus and presented to him Gold, Frankincense and myrrh, the Bible made us to understand that they went back to their country by another route which points to the fact that every life that encounters Jesus cannot remain the same.

The program came to an end at 3:30 pm after the teachings of the speaker on the relevant purposes of Epiphany which spurred the mind of all listeners and anchors to better understand the revelation of the Lord.
