The day commenced with a solemn Holy Mass at approximately 10:00 am. He revealed that the initiative for such a meeting was conceived by the late Bishop Albert Fasina, making today’s event a providential fulfillment of his vision.

Bishop Adesina, in his address to the participants, emphasized the critical importance of unity and mutual love within the Church. He stated unequivocally, “The division among us is only from the evil one. We are one and should remain one. The mystery that we must love each other is profound.” The Bishop expressed his joy in realizing his predecessor’s dream, noting from his own experience as a former seminary formator the potential for division between diocesan and religious priests, a challenge he actively worked against.

His central message to the future priests and religious was a powerful call for collaborative spirit: “No matter what you become tomorrow, you must learn to work together in love, in collaboration in mission and co-responsibility.” This resonated deeply with the attendees, setting a clear expectation for their future ministry.

Following the spiritually enriching Mass and the Bishop’s insightful address, the participants gathered for a group photograph, capturing the historic moment. The interaction continued with a warm reception, providing an informal setting for discussions, dance, and musical entertainment. This fostered a sense of camaraderie and strengthened the bonds among the future shepherds and servants of the Diocese.

This inaugural interactive session, spearheaded by Bishop Adesina, marks a significant step towards nurturing a unified and collaborative spirit among those in formation within the Ijebu-Ode Diocese. It underscores the Bishop’s commitment to building a future Church characterized by love, mutual respect, and a shared mission. The event is expected to become a recurring feature, ensuring a strong foundation of unity for generations of priests and religious to come.
