Bishop Adesina charges youths to proclaim the good news
The Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria, Ijebu-Ode diocese have been privileged to be the first to celebrate Holy Mass with the newly ordained Bishop of the diocese, Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina, after his installation/ordination. This took place as the youths celebrated their annual Youth Day with the Bishop at St. Anthony Nursery and Primary School, Igbeba Road, Ijebu-Ode on the 27th of April 2019.
Bishop Adesina in his homily congratulated the youths of the diocese for being the first Organization of the church he was celebrating mass with in the diocese and the first to receive the fresh anointing after his ordination as a bishop. He also spoke about the two faces of Easter which are the weak face (the shy type) and the stong face (go out and proclaim the good news). Bishop Adesina encouraged the youths to proclaim the good news, to have Jesus in their lives and make it present in the life of others by talking about Jesus with their friends.
The chaplain of the youths in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Ogbere, Rev. Fr. Augustine Adetola in his talk encouraged the youths to be leaders of today and not tomorrow adding that they should always be ready to listen and be good followers. Fr. Adetola noted that the youths should make their faith known wherever they find themselves admonishing that they should never give up the faith because it is an everlasting treasure.
The Bishop finally encouraged the youths to seek good relationship with the priests and get connected with them and never be blown away by the challenges in Nigeria. The ceremony which had the Bishop-Emeritus, Bishop Fasina in attendance also had the following priests in attendance: Fr. Albert Igbodipe(Diocesan youth chaplain), Fr. Albert Osunlaja, Fr. John Ashinwo and Fr. Adesanya. The program ended with a match past by the youths of the different deaneries and group photographs with the bishop.
