A Decade of Grace: Rev. Fr. Anthony Adetayo Celebrates 10th Priestly Anniversary with Book Launch

By Bisola Egbayelo

It was a landmark week of gratitude and reflection as Rev. Fr. Anthony Adetayo marked a decade of service in the Lord’s vineyard. The 10th priestly ordination anniversary, celebrated through a series of liturgical and social events, culminated in a grand ceremony on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at St. Anthony Grammar School (Private), Esure, Ogun State.

A Journey of Shared Priesthood

The anniversary festivities began on December 18 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Oru, where Fr. Adetayo gathered with his classmates Fr. James Oluka and Fr. Augustine Adetola who attended online to commemorate their shared journey. However, the atmosphere reached a crescendo on Saturday at his primary place of assignment in Esure.

The Thanksgiving Mass, which commenced at 10:15 am, saw a massive turnout of guests from across Nigeria. Fr. Adetayo, serving as the Chief Celebrant, was joined at the altar by some priests who concelebrated in a show of fraternal solidarity.

“A Man of Many Talents”

Delivering a soul-stirring homily, Rev. Fr. Jude Okafor lauded the celebrant’s multifaceted contributions to the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode. Describing Fr. Adetayo as a “man of many gifts,” Fr. Okafor highlighted the celebrant’s ability to balance demanding roles with grace.

“He serves as the Director of Social Communications and the Principal of a Diocesan school, alongside various provincial responsibilities,” Fr. Okafor remarked. “Yet, he carries these burdens with remarkable diligence and patience.”

The homilist urged Fr. Adetayo to remain steadfast and focused on his divine calling, while simultaneously charging the lay faithful to support their priests through prayer, noting that the mission of evangelization is a collective responsibility.

The Unveiling of “The Unfiltered Soul”

The celebration transitioned from the sanctuary to a vibrant reception, where Fr. Adetayo marked his first decade by giving back to the academic and religious community. The highlight of the afternoon was the official unveiling of his debut book:

“The Unfiltered Soul: Communication That Actually Matters with Students”

The book is a reflection of his ten years of experience, particularly his time spent mentoring youths in the educational sector. It serves as a guide for meaningful engagement between educators and the younger generation.

Tributes and Toast to the Future

The event concluded with the cutting of the anniversary cake, surrounded by staff members, students, family, and well-wishers. The air was filled with emotional tributes:

  • Students praised his fatherly guidance.
  • Staff members spoke of his disciplined yet compassionate leadership.
  • Family members expressed pride in his decade of unwavering commitment to his vocation.

As the curtains fell on the celebration, the sentiment was clear: Fr. Anthony Adetayo’s first ten years are but a foundation for a lifetime of continued impact in the church and society at large.
