St. Patrick Missionary Society marked its feast day on March 17, 2025, with a grand celebration at the St. Patrick Formation House in Owoye, Ijebu-Imushin. The event starting with Holy Mass was presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese of Ijebu-Ode, Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina.

It is note worthy that the celebration coincided with the Silver Jubilee of the establishment of the formation house in Ijebu-Ode Diocese, making it a momentous occasion. The Regional Superior, Very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Iwho SPS, and the Director of the House, Fr. Peter Nwale SPS, were also in attendance, along with numerous priests from the Society, MSP, and the Diocese. There were various seminarians, novices and postulants in attendance.

During the Mass, Bishop Adesina delivered a heartfelt homily, encouraging everyone to continue supporting vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Drawing inspiration from the biblical story of Peter, the Bishop emphasized the importance of surrendering to God’s will, just as Peter did after the miraculous catch of fish. “Jesus saw in Peter what Peter did not see in himself,” Bishop Adesina noted. “This means we are special before God, and God has an interest in using us for His glory. We should surrender all like Peter.”

Following the Mass, a symbolic tree-planting ceremony took place to commemorate the Silver Jubilee celebration. Bishop Adesina planted the first tree, followed by other dignitaries.

The St. Patrick Missionary Society’s feast day celebration was a testament to the organization’s commitment to spreading the Gospel and fostering vocations. As the Society continues to grow and thrive, its presence remains a beacon of hope and faith in the Ijebu-Ode Diocese and beyond.
