Ijebu-Ode Diocese effects the transfer of Priests for 2024
By Fr. Anthony Adetayo
Based on the necessity of reaching out further to the people of God domiciled in Ijebu-Ode Diocese, there was a need for a robust pastoral expansion plan which led to creation of three Episcopal regions as earlier reported. This move brought about the creation of more independent stations, posting of Parish Priests, Parochial Vicars and Deacons. This also led to appointment of various Deans and Sub Deans in the three Episcopal regions of the Diocese.
The new Pastoral Assignments for Priests and Deacons published on 24th November, 2024, takes effect this month, December 19, 2024. The Bishop of the Diocese; Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina has advised that all those taking up new assignments and those leaving their places of assignments should ensure that there is a proper handing over process with reference to the newly published “Policy on Handover Process” of the Diocese.
The Diocese has also expressed gratitude to Rev. Fr. Francis Bamigboye, who has completed his five-year mission in the Diocese and will return to his Osogbo Diocese after Christmas celebrations. Similarly, Sr. Esther EDEKO, OLA, has been assigned a new mission outside the Diocese, and the Diocese wishes her God’s blessing and fruitfulness in her new apostolate outside the Diocese.
The Diocese welcomes new priests, including Rev. Fr. Virgile DJAGOU, Rev. Fr. Francis AFOLABI, OSJ, and Fr. Patrick ADEJUMO, OSJ. Fr. Virgile Djagou is from the Diocese of Dassá Zoumé, of the Republic of Benin and is currently assigned to St. Timothy Catholic Church, Degun. Frs. Francis and Patrick are priests of the Oblate of St. Joseph and they have been assigned to work at St. Martins of Tours Catholic Church, Itasani in Ogijo Deanery. The Diocese also welcomes Sr. Veronica NWAOZUZU, OLA, assigned to OLA Community, Ijebu-Ode. The Diocese wishes them a happy and fruitful pastoral ministry.
The transfer of priests and new pastoral assignments is a significant development in the Diocese’s efforts to spread the Gospel and serve the people of God more efficiently.
