CMO MARIAN PILGRIMAGE DRAWS MEN TO IWOPIN

The Catholic Men Organisation Nigeria(CMON) of Ijebu-Ode Diocese held its 2nd annual Marian Sodality Pilgrimage on Friday, October 25, and Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Marian Pilgrimage Center, Iwopin, Ogun Water Side. The event, themed “Gathering at the feet of Blessed Virgin Mary,” attracted multitude of devotees seeking spiritual rejuvenation.
The pilgrimage began with a solemn rosary procession, followed by exposition and benediction. Participants also observed the Stations of the Cross, reflecting on Christ’s passion. Opportunities for confession were available throughout the event. They also blessed their water, intentions and religious articles. The opening Mass was celebrated by Very Rev. Martin-Rita Ogunbanwo with other priests in attendance.
Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina; Bishop of Ijebu-Ode Diocese graced the occasion as the Chief Celebrant at the closing Mass, joined by CMO Diocesan Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Jude Okafor. Fr. Jude-Mariae Ezeigbo delivered the Marian talk, emphasizing the importance of devotion to Mary during turbulent times. Fr. Ezeigbo’s inspiring message highlighted Mary’s role as a mother and intercessor. He encouraged participants to seek her guidance and protection amidst life’s challenges.
The Bishop reminds the pilgrims that the men on the pilgrimage today have a privilege. “God gave a privilege to Moses to see His face. But God gave even a greater privilege to you to see Him every day in the Holy Eucharist. God has started showing His face to you. The world will see the face of God in you when you return back and it will reflect in your children. The CMO of our Diocese have this privilege of encountering Christ today.” He encourage d them to support one another and pray for one another.
According to a participant, “This pilgrimage has renewed my faith and strengthened my devotion to our Blessed Mother.” The CMO Ijebu-Ode Diocesan President Mr. Stephen Gbogiaran expressed gratitude to the Bishop, clergy, organizing committee and all volunteers for making the event a success.
In summary, the pilgrimage provided a serene atmosphere for spiritual growth, fostering a sense of community among attendees. The annual Marian Pilgrimage reaffirms the Diocesan community’s commitment to faith and spiritual growth.
