The Congregation of the Passionist Sisters of St. Paul of the Cross, Nigerian Delegation, celebrated a significant day of commitment and faith, on 3rd September 2025 with four sisters making their final profession of vows and two others their first profession. Among those who made their final vows was Sister Florence Ogunfunwa, bringing pride to her hometown of Ijebu-Ife in Ogun State.
The solemn Mass was held at Mater Dei Parish in New GRA, Enugu. Most Rev. Calistus V.C. Onaga, Bishop of Enugu Diocese, officiated the ceremony, joined by numerous priests, hundreds of religious men and women, and a large gathering of the lay faithful.
During his homily, Bishop Onaga offered words of guidance and encouragement to the newly professed sisters. He urged them to remain rooted in the founding spirit of their congregation and to embrace a life of prayer and obedience, which he described as the most challenging of the evangelical counsels. The bishop also had a message for the families of the sisters, reminding them that their daughters now belong to God and the Church and should be fully supported in their divine mission.
Sr. Juliet Emeronye CP., the Delegate Superior of the congregation, formally welcomed the sisters who made their final profession, including Sisters Florence Ogunfunwa CP, Euphemia Enyinnaya CP, Maria-Assumpta Uwalaka CP, and Assumpta Uzoegbu CP. She affirmed that they are now fully integrated into the community and share in all its possessions.
The ceremony marked a special moment for the people of Ijebu-land and St. Louis’ Parish in Ijebu-Ife, as they celebrate yet another one of their own dedicating her life in service to God.
