“YOUR WATER MUST NOT BE POISONOUS…” Bishop Adesina tells CWO Pilgrims

The Catholic Women Organization of Nigeria (CWON) recently held their annual sodality Marian Pilgrimage at Iwopin, a notable location for Catholic pilgrimages in Ogun State, Nigeria between Friday 8th and Saturday 9th November 2024. This event is a significant spiritual gathering for Catholic women, offering a chance to deepen their faith and connect with others.
In both guided and personal manner, the pilgrims prayed, had Masses celebrated for them, had their confessions heard, had private prayerful reflection and engage in rosary procession. Many Priests were also present together with parishioners across the 3 regions and 8 deaneries of the Diocese.
In reflecting on Luke 1:46-55 during the Marian talk, Fr. Francis Okposio SMM explored the significance of Mary’s hymn of praise, also known as the Magnificat, in Luke 1:46-55. This passage showcases Mary’s spontaneous worship, despite her challenging circumstances, as she learns she will bear the Son of God. He encouraged listeners to emulate Mary’s attitude of gratitude and worship, even in uncertain times. By examining Mary’s response, we can deepen our understanding of what it means to truly worship God
At the closing Mass, the Bishop of the Diocese; Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina said that “Today’s readings call us to the symbolism of the temple and the water the flows from it. The people of God are the Church. He asked the congregation, What type of water flows from you? Some waters poison the church, poison the market, and poison the society. He also said “some waters bring the grace of love, justice, kindness, goodness like that of the Blessed Virgin Mary.” He reiterated that “Each one of us must return home and people should see the flow of new life and new hope out of us.”
Fr. Ezeigbo Jude-Marie, who is the Diocesan CWO Chaplain, extended heartfelt appreciation to participants and stakeholders following the conclusion of the Marian Pilgrimage. He thanked participants for their devotion to Our Lady, the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) for organizing, volunteers and benefactors for their support, Bishop for guidance and blessings.
The Diocesan President Mrs. Osineye also showed appreciation for the cooperation of all women towards the success recorded. It was indeed a great prayerful session.
